   Thanks so much for all your amazing work with Dagashi Kashi, one of the stand-out series of the season and you’ve dealt with it wonderfully.

   I’ve only just had the chance to check over the subs of the other fansub group covering the series and was choked within seconds by the use of “comic” as opposed to “manga” and worse.

   If I want dumbed- down cartoons I’d use the other group but what I want is anime, translated and subbed with care and attention to detail. You’ve given us that and it’s been an incredibly pleasurable ride.

     If you learn some Japanese, then you will see how bad most of translations are (of course I don’t mean Mori or similar groups which are really TRANSLATING, not adopting/localising). It’s not even about single words like manga or localised names of food. They are rewriting whole dialogues and jokes. It’s bad and just dumb.

       Localization is not inherently bad and in many cases it’s perfectly fine to do so. There are however many words that cannot be localized (food in particular) like okonomiyaki which cannot be localized without losing some meaning/description.
